Hope in the Heart of War
When the invasion escalated in February 2022, GCS responded within days, evacuating families, delivering essential aid, and sharing the hope of Christ across Ukraine. What began as emergency relief has become a committed, long-term mission in the hardest-hit communities.
The Situation In Ukraine
Ukraine faces a humanitarian catastrophe of staggering proportions.
Over 3.7 million people displaced within the country.
More than 6.9 million refugees across Europe.
Civilian casualties exceeding 12,000 deaths and 29,000+ injured.
Roughly 30 percent of national infrastructure destroyed.
Missile strikes and ground attacks continue daily, leaving communities without homes, schools, or hospitals.

Key Impact Highlights
Keep This Mission Alive

GCS: First In, Still Here
Before the war, GCS was already active in Ukraine through evangelism and
community work. When the invasion began, our team transitioned overnight
into emergency response.
We are now formally registered in Ukraine, coordinating over 500 Ukrainian
volunteers, many trained as chaplains, medics, and first responders.
Our philosophy has always been simple: respond immediately, stay long-term,
and serve with compassion and faith.
Stories from the Frontline
Every convoy tells a story. Watch moments from our teams serving across Ukraine, from frontline evacuations to Gospel outreach in shelters and schools.

Anatoliy’s Story
Enduring the Unimaginable
In war-torn Kharkiv, Anatoliy lost his wife in a missile strike. GCS
volunteers reached him with prayer, friendship, and a Ukrainian
Bible, slowly restoring hope to his life.

Oksana’s Story
Teaching Through the Rubble
After the Kakhovka Dam collapse, GCS helped rescue over 1,700 people, including Oksana, a schoolteacher determined to keep teaching. We provided food, school materials, and helped repair her home.

Great Commission Society (GCS) is a recognised reporting partner within the Food Security and Livelihoods Cluster (FSLC) under the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
GCS has been formally elected to the Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) of the FSLC, representing international NGOs involved in humanitarian leadership and coordination.
